Places, areas and service coverage

IDM's map is organised in levels:

LevelWhat it isExample
GatewayA metropolitan service areaAccra
ZoneA pricing and dispatch band inside a gatewayAccra Central
Suburb / areaA named locality people recogniseEast Legon
PinThe exact spot, dropped on the map by the sender or recipientYour gate

Every active suburb belongs to exactly one zone and one gateway. The areas are drawn and versioned by Intellisol; a later redraw never changes the price of a delivery already confirmed.

Choosing a location

You always choose the area from the list and pin the exact place. You cannot type a free-text area name: IDM only accepts places it can verify. The screen then shows the place in words, for example East Legon, Accra, never raw coordinates.

Why a location can be refused

MessageWhat it meansWhat to do
This location is outside our service area. The pin is real but nobody in IDM delivers there (or it is too far for this business).Choose a place inside the area the delivery company serves.
This location could not be confirmed. Please move the pin.The pin sits on a boundary or the map data is unclear.Move the pin a little, or choose the area again.
We could not confirm this location. Please try again.A technical problem stopped the check.Try again in a moment.
This pin does not appear to be within the selected area. Please move the pin or select the correct area. The pin and the area you chose disagree. IDM never silently picks one.Move the pin into the area, or choose the area the pin is in.
This location is approximate. The pin is just outside a mapped area, so IDM matched the nearest one.Check it is right before confirming.

Saved places

Senders can save Home, Work and Other places after confirming their phone. A saved place is checked against the current map every time you use it; if the map has changed, IDM uses the current area and updates the saved place.
